Reasons you shouldn’t get married in Iceland
Weddings are special, and many people want to make them as memorable as possible. While we think that’s a wonderful idea, we also want to make sure you aren’t making any mistakes.
When you think about getting married, you probably don’t think about saying your vows in front of a waterfall or the warm glow of a majestic church. If black sand beaches or a glacier lagoon is not your cup of tea then here are our top reasons why you should not get married in Iceland.
1. It’s cold and it rains!
Cold and rainy weather means you definitely can’t throw a beautiful outdoor ceremony in Iceland. No one wants to freeze during the happiest day of their lives. And it rains a lot there, which means you probably don’t want to have an elopement in Iceland. Is that so?

2. Who wants to have their wedding photos taken in the dull Icelandic landscape?
Another reason against having your wedding in Iceland is definitely the scenery. The natural landscape of the place isn’t appealing at all if you’re considering taking pictures there. It’s mostly rocks and waterfalls, not exactly a great backdrop for your wedding photos! Right?

3. You wouldn’t have a wedding in a black church, right?
Surely there aren’t many nice churches in Iceland, so if you’re looking for that type of venue, you’ll probably want to look elsewhere. After all would you want to get married in a black church?!

4. Boring waterfalls
Waterfalls are boring, right? Yes, Iceland has them everywhere. Who wants to have an Icelandic waterfall as a backdrop to their wedding photos? No Iceland wedding photographer can make these photos look good, not in a million years.

5. Glacier Lagoon
If you’re not a fan of the ‘Frozen’ franchise then the famous Glacier Lagoon would probably not appeal to you. After all, Frozen looking like wedding photos won’t suit your taste.

6. Lava fields in Iceland
If lava fields are not your preferred choice and you like the cosiness of your living room sofa then getting married in Iceland is not a good move for you and your partner.

7. Icelandic horses will photobomb your wedding photos
Who wouldn’t mind Ed Sheeran or Tom Hanks photobombing your wedding photos? Guess what, while in Iceland you can come across a gazillion of horses herded everywhere. How can you even take beautiful wedding photographs in such a place?

8. Reykjavik doesn’t offer any nice wedding photo spots
You definitely can’t have your wedding photos taken in Reykjavik and be satisfied with the end results. The modern architecture of the capital of Iceland definitely does not fit into the concept of wedding photography.

9. It’s just not a romantic place at all
We know what you’re thinking. Eloping to a remote and romantic place where you can take the most amazing wedding images taken. Can it be done in Iceland?
